Anonymous asked: One of my least favorites was the filler with Apis and the 1000 year old dragon. They were on Reverse Mountain and one of the characters from the filler actually interrupted the scene as they were sailing up the mountain. It's one thing to merge filler and canon episodes, but it's another to have the filler actually mess with the canon storyline is such a way.
But it was so important to have Eric board the Merry when they were climbing Reverse Mountain!
He was a great villain and a really credible threat!
His presence there was sooooooo important!
Seriously anime companies—don’t mix filler in with canon. You’re ruining everything when you do that.
at least it let Nami do the one thing of any importance combat-wise she’s pretty much ever done the whole series, besides Accidentally Beating Ms. Doublefinger With A Weapon Usopp Made and doing whatever the hell she did to kalifa
Nami defeated one of Baroque Work’s highest ranked and strongest officers by herself, using a weapon she had no fucking training with, which the man who developed thought was mainly only good for party tricks. She took something that could shoot out flowers and fake birds, and some cold and hot air, and turned it into weapon that could create mirages, produce lightning, and launch people through multiple brick walls. And she had to figure ALL THAT SHIT OUT while an assassin was trying to kill her. Nami’s a genius when it comes to navigation, map making, and understanding and predicting weather. Usopp simply gave her a tool that allowed her to translate that skill and knowledge into combat power, something very few people in the world would be able to accomplish.
If you’re going to insult Nami for fighting with a weapon that relies on her intelligence to utilize, rather than brute strength, then I guess Zoro’s accomplishments are useless because he fights with swords someone else made too, and Luffy’s fights don’t count either since he fights with a Devil Fruit power. I guess I’ll have to reevaluate how strong every person in the crew except for Usopp, Franky, and Sanji are, since all the rest of them fight with weapons and magic powers they didn’t create themselves.
Let’s take another look at the kind of shit Nami went through in her fight with Miss Doublefinger
I didn’t realize that all the pain and damage that Nami took during this fight was meaningless. I didn’t realize that Nami had to punch Miss Doublefinger into the dirt with her bare fists for her victory to count. I didn’t realize that all of the shit that Nami went through, all the brilliance she had in utilizing the Climatact as a weapon, and all of the moves she pulled off to survive during the fight was nothing but a big “accident” that any vaguely lucky asshole could pull off. Wow, who knew Miss Doublefinger was so weak and easy to defeat.
Really through. Don’t act like Nami sat there and waved a magic wand Usopp made for her and defeated Miss Doublefinger and Kalifa without any effort on her own part, because she sure as hell didn’t.
